Crux Secteur and Tarmac SL4 Bike Recall

Important information for owners of these bikes regarding a potential fall threat over a defective design. While this may not be an issue if you are riding at low speeds, it can become a potentially dangerous condition if you are riding at racing or at high speeds. The manufacturer Specialized Bike Components has issued a recall, which applies to its model Crux, Tarmac SL4 and Secteur model bikes. Models produced in both 2012 and 2013 are both affected, which include a total recall of over 12,200 bikes. These bikes carried a hefty price tag ranging from between $900 to over $10,000. According to reports the recall was issued when the front steering tube of the bike was found to break. This issue could result in sudden falling, that can cause devastating injuries. So far there have been 2 reports of issues taking place, but no serious injuries have been reported. Often times with product defect cases injured parties may not be aware of the defect.
