SIMU Awning and Shutter Motors Recall Class Action Lawsuit
A recall was issued by SIMU on the DMI6 Hz motors, which were sold with their awnings and shutters. The motor is silver and black, with the model name and “Simu” printed on the side of the motor. The defect is with the motor’s power cable, which can disconnect while the awning or shutter is opened or closed manually. This is an electrocution hazard, and as a result, the manufacturer is recalling around 13,800 motors.
Affected consumers are advised to stop using the product if their shutters or awnings are not connected to a GFCI circuit breaker or outlet. They should also contact SIMU directly to arrange for a free inspection and repair.
