Bolt Foldable Children’s Scooter Recall Class Action Lawsuit

Bolt Foldable Childrens Scooter Recall Class Action Lawsuit lawyer sue compensation liability attorney

On November 3, 2022, Anker Play Products issued a recall for their Bolt Foldable Children’s Scooters. According to the recall, number 23-031, the paint on the scooters contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint ban; therefore, the product poses a lead poisoning hazard. Unfortunately, lead can be very toxic if ingested by young children.

The recall affects approximately 5,000 units of the product. The scooters are painted black with either a blue or purple standing platform. On the top left corner of the standing platform, “APPLLC120806218142” is printed in white letters. “Bolt” can be found printed in white on either a blue or purple sticker on the front of the scooter. When assembled, the affected scooter measures about 23 inches by 3.75 inches by 20 inches; the scooter weights approximately 2.7 pounds.

The recalled scooters were sold nationwide at discount stores from March to May 2022 for approximately $13 each.

According to the recall, no incidents have been reported so far. Regardless, the company is urging all affected consumers to take the affected scooters away from children, stop using them, and contact them for a refund.

However, if your child suffered lead poisoning due to exposure to high levels of lead in the scooter, it is important that you do not follow the recommendations made by the company. Instead, you should seek legal assistance as soon as possible – as you could have grounds to file a lawsuit for the harm that your child suffered.

The Harm Resulting from Exposure to Lead in the Recalled Scooter

Young children are most at risk of suffering significant harm due to exposure to high levels of lead. The young children exposed to lead through the recalled scooters could suffer some of the following symptoms of lead poisoning:

  • Developmental delays
  • Learning difficulties
  • Weight loss
  • Loss of appetite
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue and sluggishness
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Hearing loss
  • Seizures
  • Pica

Unfortunately, long-term exposure to lead can cause irreversible damage, including affected brain development, kidney damage, and nervous system damage. In extreme cases, lead poisoning can be fatal.

What To Do
