MYX Fitness Exercise Bicycles Recall Class Action Lawsuit
On November 3, 2022, MYX issued a recall for their exercise bicycles. According to the recall, recall number 23-708, the pedals on the affected exercise bicycles can loosen and/or detach when not tightened sufficiently at installation, resulting in an injury hazard. Thee recall includes approximately 162,000 units of the product.
The recall includes the following exercise bikes:
- MYX I
- MYX II
- MYX II Plus
They are connected exercise bicycles and were available in black or white. The stationary bikes measure 55 inches long, 21 inches wide, and 47 inches high. The exercise bicycles have a 21.5-inch touchscreen that swivels. The product also has adjustable handlebars and seat as well as pedals with clips and straps. MYX is printed on the side of the exercise bicycle.
The product was sold online from November 2019 through July 2022 at MyxFitness.com and amazon.com. The MYX I and MYX II bikes were sold for approximately $1,400. The MYX II Plus was sold for approximately $1,600.
So far, the company has received 864 reports of the pedals loosening or detaching completely. These reports include 75 reports of injuries, consisting of bruises and cuts.
The company is urging consumers affected by the recall to stop using the product until the pedals are properly tightens following the instructions being sent out via email. In addition, if pedals have already detached and have not been repaired, the company is urging consumers to contact them for a free in-home repair.
