Grammy-Nominated Producer Accused of Rape – Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Lawyers

Grammy-Nominated Producer Accused of Rape sue liability lawyer attorney compensation incident

Breaking News: a Los Angeles woman has filed a lawsuit alleging that she was raped in 2016 by Grammy-nominated producer Metro Boomin. She claims that she became pregnant due to the attack and had an abortion.

Metro Boomin, whose legal name is Leland Wayne, has worked with some of the biggest names in the hip-hop and R&B genres. The producer’s attorneys called the accusations false. He released a statement in which he said “This is a pure shakedown. These are false accusations. Mr. Wayne refused to pay her months ago, and he refuses to pay her now. Mr. Wayne will defend himself in court. He will file a claim for malicious prosecution once he prevails.”

The claimant, Vanessa LeMaistre, 38, says in the lawsuit that she became friends with the producer in the Spring of 2016 after the death of her infant son. In September, she was visiting him in a recording studio when she blacked out and regained consciousness on a bed while Wayne was raping her. Reportedly she was given a shot of alcohol and took half a bar of Xanax. According to the lawsuit, “The next thing [she] can recall is waking up on a bed in a different location with Wayne raping her and being completely unable to move or make a sound. She was in and out of consciousness for an unknown amount of time but awoke again at some point to Wayne performing oral sex on her.”

The victim is suing for sexual battery and gender violence and is seeking damages to be awarded in trial.

Unfortunately, incidents like this are very common. In the past, many different producers and artists have faced allegations of sexual abuse. Although some allegations have been disproven, there are many allegations that have been proven to be true. It is important that those who commit rape and other sexual abuse are held accountable and face the law. If you were a victim of sexual abuse, it is important that you seek legal help as soon as possible.

Sexual Abuse and Resulting Harm

Sexual abuse can look different case to case. Examples of sexual abuse can include the following:

  • Rape and attempted rape
  • Sodomy
  • Any forced penetration with objects
  • Oral sex (performing oral sex on the victim or forcing the victim to perform oral sex)
  • Forced kissing
  • Forced touching, fondling, groping, etc.
  • Making sexual jokes or comments about the victim
  • Forcing the victim to pose for sexually explicit photos or videos

In general, any nonconsensual sexual contact can be considered a form of sexual assault.

Victims can potentially suffer extensive physical and psychological harm. Examples of physical injuries can include sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancies, pregnancy-related complications, injuries to genitals, injuries to reproductive organs, fractures, lacerations, and other injuries related to a struggle or the use of force. Examples of psychological injuries can include post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, fear, panic, and more. No matter the harm that you suffered due to sexual abuse, it is important that you find a lawyer to help you bring forth a claim and get justice.

Can I File a Sexual Abuse Lawsuit?

Yes, if you suffered sexual abuse, you could have grounds to file a lawsuit. You could sue for the intentional actions of the attacker. If the attacker is associated with a specific company and the abuse occurred in the recording studio, for example, then the company could also face a lawsuit. What if there were multiple victims? In cases in which there are multiple victims, victims could come together to participate in a class action claim or mass torts claim. If you have questions about your right to sue or the type of claim that you could pursue, contact us today. Our sexual abuse lawyers here at the Downtown L.A. Law Group are ready to provide you with the guidance that you need to take action and fight for your rights after sexual abuse.

Can I Recover Compensation?

Yes, you could be eligible to recover compensation for the damages that you suffered due to the sexual abuse. Although every claim is different, you could potentially be eligible to recover compensation for some of the following:

  • Medical costs (including costs for mental health services)
  • Lost income
  • Pain and suffering
  • Treble damages
  • Punitive damages
  • Legal costs
  • And more

Although no amount of compensation will undo the harm that you suffered because of the sexual abuse, it is important that you are fairly compensated. If you are ready to fight for your rights and recover the maximum compensation available for your sexual abuse claim, contact us today. How Long Do I Have to Sue?

All claims are subject to a statute of limitations or a deadline to sue. If claimants do not file their claims on time, they can lose their right to sue entirely. In California, adult victims of sexual abuse generally have ten years from the date of the last incident of sexual assault or three years from the discovery of the harm caused by the assault to file their civil lawsuit. However, based on the specific details surrounding each claim, certain exceptions could apply which could leave victims with less time or even more time to file their claims. Because of this, it is essential that claimants reach out to a lawyer as soon as possible to ensure that they have a thorough understanding of the deadline that applies to their claims.
