A 55-year-old man loses control on Hollywood Boulevard and runs over several people, 2 of whom are reporters for Fox News.
This Friday, the driver of an SUV collided with a building (Highland Market), injuring a total of 5 people on the way, on Hollywood Boulevard, on Hollywood Walk of Fame on the 6800 block, at about 3:15 p.m.
According to The Los Angeles Fire Department, of the 5 victims, 4 were taken to the hospital (one refused to go), where their states vary from serious to critical. Their recovery is expected, however.
The injured reporters, identified as photographer Joab Perez and reporter Hal Eisner, were taken to hospital after the crash. They were there to cover a story when the SUV hit them.
All the victims were standing on the sidewalk, waiting for the El Capitan Theater reopening, when the driver hit them.
The drunk driver was not injured. When the authorities questioned him and conducted the DUI test, he claimed to have fallen asleep. He failed the DUI test. His identity has not been released.
Officers say the building the driver collided with suffered no structural damage. Hollywood Boulevard was closed for lifting from the scene and was expected to remain that way for several more hours.
Although the driver showed no apparent injuries, he was taken to the hospital for a check-up and psychotropic substances tests. He was taken into custody by the authorities.
