Last Thursday night, a teenager died from a gunshot in a neighborhood in Chula Vista.
The teenager was hanging out with his friends in Sunset View Park when they got into an argument with another group of four, apparently between the ages of 17 and 20. This group fled after the shooting in a black Honda vehicle.
The young man was found on the ground and later taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to the gunshots he received.
According to Chula Vista Police spokesman Lieutenant Dan Peak, witnesses reported hearing gunshots at Sunset View Park around 7:20 p.m. The police arrived to find him on the ground, with gunshot injuries. The authorities did not release his name.
This is not an area where we expect to have incidents like this,” Peak said. “I can tell you the incident that occurred last weekend involved a juvenile. This incident tonight involved a juvenile. It appears to be some type of juvenile crime that may be taking place.”, referring to the incident in which a 15-year-old was shot and wounded in the same park.
The authorities continue to investigate the case, noting that the investigation is just beginning and that the motives for the shooting remain unknown.
