Officers report that, on the Azusa and Glendora border, last Monday evening, at least 5 vehicles were involved in the chain-link collision caused by a police pursuit, around 6 p.m. at Arrow Highway and Barranca Avenue, leaving several seriously injured, among which is the chased driver.
The Glendora Police Department reports the accident was caused by the Azusa Police Department chasing a car, when the chased driver headed in the opposite direction at a busy intersection, causing the chain-link collision of 5 vehicles.
A total of 6 people (plus one with minor injuries) were seriously injured, 2 of whom were those of the pursued car, of which it is presumed none was wearing a seat belt, since the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Also, the people in the chased car are suspected of carjacking. According to a spokesman for the Azusa Police Department, Sgt. Jason Poulos, both were reported stable.
The identities of the suspects have not yet been released.
Even though substance abuse is suspected, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) did not disclose whether they were found at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
