Two Teens Struck by a Hit and Run Driver in Van Nuys

Two Teens Struck by a Hit and Run Driver in Van NuysThe Los Angeles Police Department is on the lookout after two teenagers, one boy and one girl were violently struck early Tuesday  morning in Van Nuys by a hit-and-run driver. According to reports, the two middle-school students were walking to school to nearby Mulholland Middle School in Lake Balboa when they were hit.  They were crossing along the crosswalk of Vanowen Street and Ranchito Avenue.  The light had just turned in their favor when the small pickup truck ran a red light heading eastbound on Vanowen Street.  The truck ceased to stop after hitting the children or provide any assistance. Juliana Amaya, 17, was walking just behind the two teens when they were hit.  She witnessed the girl screaming and crying after the crash, while the boy laid motionless on the floor.  The two injured teens were transported to Northridge Hospital and listed in serious condition.  The exact extent of their injuries are unknown, but both are expected to survive. According to police officials, the driver was driving an older model teal green Nissan pickup truck.  The truck had damages to the front end on the driver side. Police urge anyone with information leading the drivers whereabouts to call the Valley Traffic Division at (818) 644-8020 or (877)LAPD-247.
