Yoto Mini Speakers Recall Class Action Lawsuit
Around 251,165 Yoto Mini Speakers for children are under recall over incidents of the lithium ion battery overheating. This is a burn and fire hazard, and so far, there have been 9 reports from U.S. consumers of the speakers overheating or melting.
The speakers – Yoto Mini, SKU PRPLXX00860 – were sold in toy and gift stores nationwide, as well as online stores like Amazon, Target.com, yotoplay.com, and maisonette.com. The speakers have a pale gray exterior with orange controls and an LCD display. All units were sold with a charging cable only (no charger or adapter).
Make sure to take away the speaker from your children and stop using them immediately. Consumers can contact Yoto for a free replacement battery kit and dispose of the lithium ion battery in accordance with local and state ordinances.
Please note that this product was previously recalled in April 2024 due to the same defect. At that time, affected customers were offered a free replacement smart charging cable, but clearly, this has failed to solve the problem. Thus, it’s imperative that you contact the manufacturer for the battery replacement kit, even if you already received the smart cable from the previous recall.
Regardless of what Yoto is offering, there is a high risk of injury from this product, and this is unacceptable when these speakers are clearly marketed for children. If you or your loved one suffered injury and/or property damage that was caused by a recalled Yoto Mini Speaker system, contact our office to see if you are eligible for a defective product injury lawsuit.

Overheating batteries are a leading cause of burn injuries, and sadly, these incidents are very common in products that are aimed at children. Burns on the skin can result in serious health complications, including infections, significant pain, permanent scarring, sepsis and psychological disorders due to the trauma of dealing with such a painful injury.
Fire is another possible consequence of lithium ion batteries overheating in electrical devices. Aside from damage to one’s property, fires put one or more people at risk of being injured or killed. With that in mind, manufacturers who are negligent in their duty to release a safe product must be held accountable.
What to Do if You or Your Loved One is InjuredAside from safeguarding your health, our goal is to help you build a strong and solid case for compensation from the manufacturer. Here are the steps we recommend if there is an accident involving this product:
- Contact 911 immediately if there are serious injuries, like severe burns
- Even if the injuries are not life-threatening, go to the hospital within 24 hours to ensure that the harm you suffered is established through medical records.
- Try to take photos of any injuries, along with the product that caused the injuries and the accident scene if there is property damage
- Let the manufacturer know about the accident, which may prompt them to offer you a refund, replacement product, or some other remedy. Turn down all these offers until you have consulted a product recall lawyer.
- Be sure to save all evidence related to your case, like medical records, communications with the manufacturer, fire reports, and proof of days missed from work because of your medical needs.
- Contact a defective product injury lawyer to discuss the legal actions that are available to you.
