Collegiate Horse-Riding Saddles Recall Class Action Lawsuit

Collegiate Horse-Riding Saddles Recall Class Action Lawsuit lawyer attorney liability sue compensation

Weatherbeeta has issued a recall for around 2,300 Collegiate English Horse-Riding Saddles due to a serious injury hazard. The stirrup or rivet bar on the saddles can break and cause the rider to fall off the horse. Below is a list of the models that are being recalled:

  • Degree Mono Event
  • Graduate Close Contact
  • Honour Close Contact
  • Integrity Mono Dressage
  • Lectern Dressage
  • Warwick Close Contact
  • Lectern

The name “Collegiate” is branded on the saddle and the stirrup keeper. All recalled saddles measure around 15 to 18 inches and come in black or brown leather or synthetic. The recall is for all models of the Lectern saddle. For the other models, the recall is only for saddles manufactured from March 2019 through July 2023. The manufacturing date is the last 6 digits of the serial number (in MM-YYYY format), which you can find below the “Made in India” label on the underflap of the saddle.

To ensure your safety, please stop using these saddles immediately and contact Weatherbeeta as soon as possible. The company will provide instructions on how to return the defective product and receive a replacement saddle.

We want to stress that 12 accidents have been reported so far, with one person sustaining a fall injury while using one of these saddles. Considering the dangers of falling off a horse, it goes without saying that a replacement product is not enough when it comes to an accident caused by manufacturer negligence.

The product recall lawyers of DTLA are ready to fight for you and the compensation you are entitled to. Please contact us to learn about your legal options if you were injured from a fall due to a defective Collegiate hose-riding saddle.

Fall Injuries Caused by a Faulty Saddle

We all know that horse riding comes with a certain degree of risk. But products like saddles help to keep the rider safe, which is why saddle manufacturers are liable if there is a design or mechanical flaw with their product. Being thrown off or falling off a horse can result in serious injuries, such as:

  • Broken bones
  • Sprains in the hands, wrists, and ankles
  • Hip or pelvic fracture
  • Broken tailbone
  • Spinal cord damage
  • Broken neck
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Rupturing of the internal organs

In the worst cases, the rider may die as a result of their injuries. This is particularly common in accidents involving spinal cord, neck, and brain injuries. Accident victims, as well as loved ones of deceased victims, may have grounds to file a product liability lawsuit against Weatherbeeta. What to Do after a Recalled Product Accident

From the moment you are injured, it’s important to take the right steps and establish a solid foundation for a lawsuit. Please refer to the instructions below and don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions:

  • Seek medical attention right away, since falling off a horse can lead to severe, life-threatening injuries.
  • If possible, take photos of the damaged product, the scene of the accident, and any visible injuries.
  • If there were witnesses to the accident, ask for their contact information, which will help you obtain witness statements.
  • Report the accident to the manufacturer, but do not accept any offer of a replacement product, refund, etc., as it can take away your right to file a lawsuit against them. In addition, do not agree to speak on a recorded line, as you can end up saying something that will be used against you.
  • Make sure to save all evidence related to your injuries and monetary losses (for example, medical records, proof of lost income, and estimates of damaged property)
  • Ask for legal advice from a recalled product accident lawsuit attorney.
