What is the Cost of Fair – Where is Fair Available
Uber has essentially changed the way that individuals travel. The worldwide rideshare service is populated by ordinary drivers who are not part of a private company or public transportation; they set their own times and can drive whenever they feel like it. The one important detail about these drivers, though, is that they have historically needed to use their own cars, which could be a lot of stress. Their vehicles may need work the longer they are driven and their leases may have limits on mileage. Recently, companies have sought to combat these issues and have partnered with Uber to allow people to drive rental vehicles for the job. Fair is one such company, and it allows drivers to rent cars for a week at a time with an option at the end of each week to renew the contract and continue driving.
How is Fair different from other rental companies?
With other rental car agencies, you usually book a car for a specific number of days, use it, and return it. With Fair, you have the car for a week and pay the security deposit up front. You can choose to return the car at any point before the seven-day deadline, or you can choose not to return it to start another week of usage and billing. This allows you freedom to keep driving if you choose to without having to go fill out more forms and put down another payment while waiting for your deposit to be returned.
What is the cost of Fair?
In order to rent a vehicle from Fair, you have to pay the $185 security deposit and the first weekly fee of $185 plus tax. Upon the return of the vehicle, you’ll receive your security deposit back. This weekly fee covers insurance for the vehicle, you, and any passengers; unlimited miles; roadside assistance and towing; maintenance and repairs; and more. By using Uber, you can reduce the costs of the car by a large amount. By completing 75 trips, you can be credited with $80. Uber offers a credit of $185 (exactly the amount needed for the weekly fee) if you complete 90 rides in that period. This allows you to pay off the fee by simply driving, and then keeping the profits. This averages out to just over 12 rides per day. By completing 125 trips (around 18 trips per day), you can receive $240 in credits, or a flat profit of $55.
Where is Fair Car Rental Available?
As of right now, acquiring a car through Uber and Fair is available in two states. In California, it is only in the major metropolitan areas: The San Francisco Bay Area, the Greater Los Angeles Area, the Inland Empire, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Diego. Recent expansions have been planned, the first of which is Atlanta, Georgia.

What if I’m in an accident with a Fair rental car while driving for Uber?
If you find yourself in an accident while driving a Fair rental car for Uber, you should examine the situation and take appropriate legal action. Although maintenance for your car and insurance for any bodily injuries is provided by Fair and by Uber, you might need to take legal action to cover excess damages, especially if there were issues out of your control. For example, if the rental car were faulty, you may be able to sue the company for not providing maintenance or inspecting the car prior to renting it out. Further, you may be able to sue an individual if the accident were caused because of the negligent driving choices of another person. If the driver flees the scene, though, you may be able to pursue uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage through Uber’s insurance.
