Head-On Crash in Tujunga Leaves One Dead and One Seriously Injured

One person has died and another is seriously injured after a head-on crash in Shadow Hills near Tujunga on the afternoon of Thursday, July 18, 2024. The incident happened at approximately 12:50pm on the 8400 block of West La Tuna Canyon Road.

Helicopter footage of the wreckage showed a silver Kia and a white Dodge, both sedans, with significant front-end damage. First responders found two people (one in each car) trapped within the vehicles. One of the drivers, a man believed to be in his 30s, was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital; he suffered serious injuries. Can I File a Lawsuit?

Yes – if you were injured or a member of your family died in a head-on car crash, you could have the right to file a lawsuit. When it comes to car accidents, the right to sue is based on the concept of negligence. All drivers on the road have a duty to use caution and drive safely to avoid any incidents to others on the road. When a incident occurs, claimants can normally pursue claims against the at-fault driver’s insurance company. In some cases, other parties/entities could be found liable. This can include auto manufacturers or road work agencies, for example.

For more information about your right to file a lawsuit, please do not hesitate to seek legal assistance with the attorneys here at our law firm as soon as possible. Our lawyers are more than ready to provide you with the guidance that you need to pursue your claim.

What Should I Do?

After a car accident, it is important that victims and their families consider the following recommendations:

  • Take photos of all visible injuries
  • Take photos of the scene of the accident, including damage to vehicles involved
  • Seek medical attention as soon as possible
  • Speak to witnesses and collect their contact information
  • Report the incident to the authorities
  • Report the incident to the insurance company
  • Seek legal assistance with a car accident lawyer as soon as possible
How Long Do I Have to Sue?

All claims are subject to a statue of limitations, or a deadline to sue. This determines the time that claimants have to file their claims. If claimants do not file their claims on time, then they run the risk of losing their right to sue entirely. How long do you have to file your claim? In California, all personal injury claims are subject to a two-year statute of limitations, meaning that claimants will only have two years to file their claims. This also applies to wrongful death claims. For more information about the total length of time that you have to pursue your claim, contact us today.
