Warning: Chinese made counterfeit airbags pose danger to motorists

The NHTSA [National Highway Transportation Safety Administration] has issued a warning for Defective Airbags manufactured and exported from China.  Over the fast few years there has been a spate to defective products imported from China to the United Sates that have pose a serious risk of injuries and fatalities to American consumers including defective Chinese Produced Toys, Lead Pain on Products, Defective Chinese Produces Drywalls, and Poisonous tooth paste. According to the NHTSA the relatively inexpensive Chinese Produced Airbags may already be installed in over  230,000 vehicles in the United States. Vehicles which could have had defective counterfeit airbags installed include

• Toyota Camry
• Honda Accord
• Chevrolet Volt
• Nissan Altima
• VW Jetta
• Ford Mustang
• For Taurus

In August 2012 federal agents raided a the home of  a suspect in North Carolina discovering over 1,5000 counterfeit airbags made in China.  The NHTSA has conducted numerous tests of the counterfeit airbags and found the vast majority of the airbags either failed to work or worked improperly. Defective Airbags which fail to deploy or deploy improperly pose an extreme danger for motorists who rely on such protection.  Common injuries resulting form such defects include

• Head Trauma Injury
• Whiplash and Severe Neck injuries
• Spine injuries Including Spinal Cord Damage
• Post traumatic concussion
• Traumatic Eye Injuries
• Facial Lacerations
• Broken noses and facial bone fracture
• Permanent Disfigurement and scarring

Airbag Injury Lawsuits:  Who can you sue if you have sustained injuries due to a counterfeit airbag.   Any individual or company that has brought a defective product into the stream of commerce is held liable for injuries which result from the use of the product. This includes, manufactures, distributors, installers of the airbag and so forth.  For example as retail Seller liable when they are engaged in the business of selling such a product and the product is expected to reach the consumer without considerable change.
