The name of the deceased 12 year old has been released by Camarillo law enforcement officials. According to news reports Joseph Johnson, deceased victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The accident took place at 7:15 P.M. Sunday Night, June 16th, 2013. The victim was immediately transported to Los Robles Hospital and medical Center in Thousand Oaks California, a few short miles away from the accident location in Camarillo.
According to investigators and news reports Joseph Johnson cut across the southbound lanes on Carmen Drive, towards Edgemont Drive. As he was passing the median a car driven by a 79 year old elderly man driving a Toyota Avalon heading north bound struck the child. John Popp an officer with the Camarillo Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and the driver has not charged in the accident.
