SMEG Retro Style Refrigerators Recall Class Action Lawsuit
On August 8, 2024, SMEG USA issued a recall for approximately 900 retro-style refrigerators sold from September 2020 through 2024. The fridges were sold at various appliance dealers nationwide and online at wayfair.com, ajmadison.com and williams-sonoma.com.
The products are under recall due to complaints of doors detaching from the refrigerator, which can cause serious injury to those standing in front or near the item. All of the recalled fridges have freezers on the bottom and measure 80 inches tall, 30 inches deep, and 25 inches wide. They were sold in cream, black, pastel blue, pastel green, white, and red under serial numbers that begin with 2781.
If you own one of these refrigerators, go to recall@smegusa.com for directions on how to receive a free repair of the item by emailing the company a photo of the model and serial number. However, this is not the best solution if you or a loved one was injured by the door falling off a SMEG retro-style refrigerator. We suggest that you contact our office and talk to a lawyer with experience in suing negligent product manufacturers. We look forward to hearing from you and fighting for the compensation you deserve.

Injuries from a SMEG refrigerator door that comes off include deep cuts, broken bones and fractures, and damage to the underlying tissues, which can cause permanent nerve damage. The door falling off can also make the user to fall backwards or sideways, resulting in traumatic brain injury, broken tailbone, joint dislocation, wrist or ankle sprains, and other kinds of bodily harm.
