Sanure TOPINCN Pool Drain Covers Recall Class Action Lawsuit
On May 23, 2024, Sanure issued a recall for their TOPINCN Pool Drain Covers. According to the recall, number 24-239, the recalled pool drain covers do not conform to the entrapment protection standards set by the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA); because of this, the product poses an entrapment risk to swimmers and bathers. The recall affects approximately 340 units of the product.
The recall specifically includes the TOPINCN 1.5-inch and 3-inch round pool drain covers that were sold for use in swimming pools. These drains have two screws. The 1.5-inch covers have an outer diameter of about 4 inches and an inner diameter of about 2 inches. The 3-inch covers have an outer diameter of about 5 inches and an inner diameter of about 3 inches. The defective pool drain covers are plastic and white.
The pool drains included in the recall were sold exclusively online via www.amazon.com from September 2022 through March 2024; they were available for prices ranging from $9 to $32.
Although no injuries have been reported, the company is urging all affected consumers to stop using pools with the recalled drain covers, remove the drain covers, take photos of the covers, and email the photo to the company in order to receive a full refund. They are also recommending that consumers always ensure that pools and spas have drain covers that are compliant with VGBA regulations and that they teach children to always stay away from pool drains.
If you or a member of your family, including a child, suffered injuries associated with the defective pool cover, it is important that you do not follow the recommendations of the company (besides obviously stopping the use of the product). Instead, you should seek legal assistance as soon as possible.

Defective pool drain covers are associated with devastating injuries. If pool drains do not work as they should, there is a significant risk to anyone in the pool or spa. For example, swim suits can be sucked in by the pool drain and the swimmer could be stuck underwater and unable to pull themselves free. In addition, hands and feet can also become stuck in drains, in addition to becoming stuck under water, the force of the pull drain can damage hands and feet. Although children are most at risk of suffering harm, anybody in the water that is suddenly stuck and unable to break free can be in danger of drowning and other injuries.
Steps to Take If Harm OccursYou might be wondering what to do if you or your child, or any other member of your family, sustained injuries due a defective pool cover. Consider some of the following recommendations:
- Take photos of all visible injuries
- Take photos of the defective product
- Take photos of the entire scene of the accident
- Seek medical attention as soon as possible
- Gather all relevant medical records
- If available, gather any surveillance video that captured the incident
- Speak to witnesses and collect their contact information
- Contact a recall lawyer as soon as possible
Mass torts and class action claims are very common with defective products because countless consumers can be harmed in similar ways. Is there a class action lawsuit on this case? Since there have not been any reported injuries, a class action lawsuit is unlikely, although this does not mean that a class action will not occur. How can I join or be a part of a class action lawsuit on this case? In general, joining a class action lawsuit is as simple as reaching out to a class action lawyer.
