Grace Digital Recalls EcoBoulder Speakers
On November 20, 2019, Grace Digital issued a recall for its ECOXGEAR EcoBoulder Speakers. The speakers have batteries inside of them that can overcharge and explode, leading to numerous incidents and injuries. About 88,000 of the speakers were recalled.
The Bluetooth-operated speakers came in various color schemes. The speaker sections themselves were black in color, but the exterior had orange, black, yellow, red, and blue schemes. The speakers are roughly 20 inches tall and 15 inches wide. They have a storage compartment on the left side of the speaker, and the model number is GDI-EXBM900 series, with the last digit changing according to the color.
The word ECOXGEAR is written on the front face of the speakers. The UPC codes are as follows:
- GDI-EXBM900 (Orange) – code 819127010331
- GDI-EXBM901 (Black) – code 819127010348
- GDI-EXBM904 (Yellow) – code 819127011796
- GDI-EXBM907 (Red) – code 819127011802
- GDI-EXBM913 (Blue) – code 819127011819
Injuries from Defective Batteries
Defective batteries are sneakily dangerous because they are not usually tied to many accidents. Batteries are often filled with acid and may be put under too much stress, which can cause them to overheat or explode. The batteries in the ECOXGEAR speakers can explode, and the speakers are small enough that the rest of the item can break and send pieces flying, too. If anyone is standing nearby or sitting close to the speaker, he can be hurt by the debris. Some of the injuries may include:- Eye damage
- Lacerations
- Cuts
- Bruises
- Abrasions
- Flesh wounds
How To File A Product Liability Lawsuit
Product liability lawsuits are forms of personal injury law and are based off negligent action the same way many other incidents are. For product liability claims, you must show that the company ho made the product is in some way responsible due to negligence. Product liability claims require that one of three situations have been present with respect to the defect in the product. They are as follows:- There was a design error with the item that was present from the time it was developed and should have been caught by someone overseeing the project or signing off on its continued creation
- There was a manufacturing defect present that caused the product to be created with the issue, or the materials used were inherently defective in some way
- There were no appropriate warning labels or hazard signs present on the packaging or on the item itself to warn of the potential dangers
Compensation From A Product Liability Lawsuit
The amount of compensation you can receive from a product liability claim can cover various expenses. You should not be expected to pay for various damages if you were not responsible for the incident, and our team of expert attorneys will work around the clock to bring you the following:- Medical expenses from the past and future to cover hospitalization, surgery, physical therapy, and more
- Property damage for anything that was broken or needed to be repaired in the incident
- Lost income from the past and future for wages you could not receive while out of work
- Pain and suffering damages for emotional anxiety, mental trauma, fear, PTSD, and more
