Muere el mecánico de un autobús escolar en San Diego atropellado en la autopista

San Diego resident and mechanic for the San Diego school system was struck by a 41-year old woman driving a 2005 Nissan Altima.  The 32-year-old unnamed mechanic from Ramona was hit on the I-805 around El Cajon Boulevard early Thursday morning.  CHP officials indicated that the man was repairing a school bus that had become inoperable when the driver of the Nissan lost control and collided with the school bus, right where the man was working.  The woman reportedly lost control of her automobile on the rain soaked highway.  No drugs or alcohol were reported as contributing factors to the accident. The mechanic was attempting to fix the engine, and was stuck against the engine compartment for over 30 minutes before he was removed by local firefighters.  He was immediately transferred to nearby Scripps Mercy Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. The female driver also sustained serious injuries as both airbags were deployed during the car accident.  Two other accidents occured as a result of drivers attempting to avoid the crash, yet no serious injuries were reported. Fortunately, nobody, including students, were aboard the school bus at the time of the accident.
