A late-night street race between a BMW and a white sedan resulted in tragic consequences for an innocent couple. The crash, which happened around 1:30 a.m. on July 22nd, was deemed a race by witnesses. It happened between 50th and 51st Street off Central Avenue. As the BMW was speeding along in excess of 90 mph, it struck an SUV, which contained two individuals. It then lost control and crashed into two more vehicles. The occupants of the SUV were rushed to the hospital; the woman suffered trauma to the head and body and remained in critical condition, while the other individual, a man, died in surgery. The BMW driver was in stable condition after his transport to the hospital. The sedan did not hit any vehicles and escaped the scene. Further, those in the other two cars struck by the BMW were not hurt.

Witnesses said that the SUV struck by the BMW was launched over 100 feet down the street due to the impact of the crash. Police are still searching for the driver of the white sedan.
