Medical King Bed Assist Rail Recall sue liability lawyer attorney

On November 14, 2024, Medical King issued a recall for their Bed Assist Rail adult bed rails. According to the recall, number 25-046, when the affected bed rails are attached to an adult’s bed, users can become entrapped either within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, resulting in an entrapment risk and death by asphyxiation risk. The recall affects approximately 222,000 units of the product.

The recall includes three models, which include the following:

Bed Assist Rail with Adjustable Heights (model number 7007)
Bed Assist Rail with Adjustable Heights (model number 7057)
Bed Assist Rail without Legs (model number 7037)

The Bed Assist Rail with Adjustable Heights (both models) are made out of black or white metal tubing with a rounded black foam rubber grip handle; they have a fabric pouch. The Bed Assist Rail without Legs is made out of silver metal tubing with a black foam rubber grip handle; it also has a black fabric pouch. There are no model numbers or any labels on the affected bed rails.

The affected bed rails were sold from January 2020 through March 2024 for about $40 each. They were available online via Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Target Plus, eBay, Kohls.com, and MedicalKingUsa.com. The defective bed rails were manufactured in China.

The company has received one report of a death associated with one of their bed rails (model 7007). Reportedly, a man at a residential care facility in South Carolina died after becoming entrapped between his mattress and the bed rail; this occurred in November 2023.

The company is urging all affected consumers to stop using the recalled bed rails and contact them for either a free repair kit or a replacement bed rail (based on the model). They are also urging consumers to report any related incidents.
