According to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), more than 200 people die due to traffic collisions on city streets every year. In addition, the agency stated that “residents of underserved communities are disproportionately killed in traffic crashes.” Residents are well aware that their complaints often go ignored and that issues are not addressed promptly.
Reportedly, under the Vision Zero commitment, the city aimed to eliminate traffic deaths entirely by the year 2025. However, in the last year, deaths actually increased to 300.
