Construction Worker Dies in 405 Freeway Accident in Los Angeles
A 3,000 pound beam struck and killed a construction crew while he was at work on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles California. The 405 also referred to as the San Diego Freeway is a the most important north-south in the City of Los Angeles Linking the San Fernando Valley to West and Central Los Angeles and South to Long Beach and Orange County Communities. The 405’s Wes Los Angeles Corridor is undergoing a massive expansion forcing closure of the highway notoriously called Carmageddon by the local media.
According to reports the accident took place around 2:30 in the morning of October 11th on the Santa Monica off-ramp of the San Diego Freeway. The Los Angeles Police Department and other investigatory agencies such as rhea California regional office of OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration]have been called to the scene to determine the cause of the falling beam. There were close to a dozen witnesses to the accident who are the fellow construction workers of the deceased individual.
As a result of the construction accident death the planned reopening of the off ramp has been delayed.
