Ex-L.A County Sheriff’s Department Psychologist Guilty of Sexual Assaults of Young Child
Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Department Psychologist Michael Dane Ward, aged 45, was convicted on Friday of the sexual assault and molestation of a boy and girl both under the age of 10. Courts convicted Ward, from La Canada-Flintridge for four counts of a lewd act on a child, two counts of forcible lewd act on a child under 14, three counts of oral copulation of a child 10 years old or younger, and one count of sodomy with a child under 10. The two children were Ward’s family members according to the conviction announcement made by the District Attorney’s Office. According to reports, the sexual assaults occurred between October 2013 and November 2015. Ward was charged with the crimes in May of 2016 and was initially relieved of his duty as the L.A County Sheriff’s Department Psychologist.
