Sean Combs AKA Diddy Sexual Abuse Attorney

Sean Combs AKA Diddy Sexual Abuse Attorney compensation lawyer attorney sue liability

On March 25, 2024, federal agents with Homeland Security searched the homes of hip hop mogul Sean Combs, AKA Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Diddy. The agents searched Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of an on-going investigation into allegations of sexual abuse. Diddy has been accused of sexual assault, sexual trafficking, and solicitation and distribution of firearms and narcotics.

Sexual abuse allegations came from several individuals, including 4 women and one man – producer Rodney Jones, who is suing Combs for sexual abuse during the year he was living with the star and working on his music. Among the female accusers is Combs’ long-term partner Cassandra (Cassie) Ventura, who settled a recent lawsuit for sexual abuse with the rapper back in November.

Diddy made a public statement in December 2023, in which he described the allegations as “sickening,” and that the individuals suing him are “looking for a quick payday.”

In spite of the star’s insistence that he “did not do any of the awful things being alleged,” federal agents raided two of his homes as part of a sex-trafficking investigation. We don’t know yet what type of evidence they have against the celebrity, but there’s no denying that Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs has run into trouble with the law numerous times. Charges filed against him include harassment, assault, and of course, his involvement in the NY nightclub shooting that resulted in the arrest of Combs and his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

The truth is, Sean John Combs is just one of many celebrities with a history of sexual exploitation and assault. Since the MeToo movement began in 2006, countless victims have spoken out about the abuse they suffered by people in the music, TV, and film industry. In 2023 alone, lawsuits and criminal charges were filed against Jamie Foxx, Russell Brand, Danny Masterson, and Steven Tyler, just to name a few.

As a victim of trafficking, assault and any other form of sexual abuse by Sean Combs, you too, can seek restitution from a civil lawsuit. The sexual assault lawyers of DTLA look forward to meeting you and advising you of your rights and legal options during a free, confidential consultation.

The Allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs by His Victims

Day by day, we are uncovering more information about the extent of sexual abuse by Combs, including raping a girl as young as 16. Here is what we know so far regarding the accusations that Diddy is facing:

  • In November 2023, Cassandra Elizabeth Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs, whom she dated from 2005 to 2018 after she was signed to his label, Bad Boy Records. In the lawsuit, she claims that he used his position of power to groom her into a “manipulative and coercive romantic and sexual relationship.” She said that he regularly beat and kicked her, and raped her on multiple occasions, but he was always protected by a “tremendously loyal network,” which enabled him to continue abusing her.
  • In the same week as the lawsuit gild by Ventura, Joi Dickerson-Neal accused Sean Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting her while she was attending college in 1991. She also alleged that he recorded the attack and showed the footage to others without her consent.
  • A third woman named Liza Gardener sued Diddy for child sexual assault, claiming that she and a friend (who were both underage at the time) were raped by Combs and one of his artists, Aaron Hall during a party in the early 1990s. She alleges that he and Hall got the girls drunk and took them back to Hall’s apartment, which is where the assaults happened.
  • In December 2023, a lawsuit was filed by a woman who said she was “sex trafficked” and “gang raped” by Sean Combs, President of Bad Boy Records Harve Pierre, and another unnamed individual. She alleges that she was drugged and given alcohol before the incident, which caused her so much pain that she could not remember how she got home.
  • In February 2024, music producer Rodney Jones Jr. said he was sexually assaulted by Combs and forced into participating in sex acts with prostitutes. In addition, he said Combs tried to groom him into having sex with a man, telling him that this was “a normal practice” in the music industry.

As you can see, these allegations don’t just involve rape and other abuse of a sexual nature by Sean Combs. In a YouTube interview with Tasha K, former girlfriend Gina Huynh talked about the rapper physically assaulting her on a regular basis. In one of the worst incidents, she said Combs offered her $50,000 to get an abortion when she got pregnant during their 5-year relationship. She refused, which according to Huynh, eventually resulted in Combs stomping on her stomach.

We expect to hear from many others in the upcoming weeks and months, and it’s our mission to bring justice to as many victims as possible in their journey to recovery. Whether suing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is in your best interest remains to be seen, but knowing you have the choice is critical when someone has made you feel trapped, terrified, ashamed, and many other emotions that you should not have to experience. Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Average Case Values

A sexual abuse lawsuit may be worth anywhere from $400,000 to $10,000,000 and above, so in reality, there is no such thing as average settlement value for the types of lawsuits that have been filed against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Within this range, there are some generalizations that we can make after decades of experience in the representation of sexual assault victims.

First, cases where the victim was raped / sexually assaulted are likely to have the highest values due to the severity of physical and emotional damage. These lawsuits may be worth over $5,000,000, especially for the sexual abuse of a minor. Second, sexual abuse lawsuits against people with considerable fame and social influence typically generate payments of $2,000,000 or more, and this is not just because of the person’s wealth. It also has to do with how they exploit their position of authority to groom, manipulate, and force a victim into a sexual act. Afterwards, they use their connections and money to silence victims and their loved ones and quash police investigations with help from their attorneys.

Now that we’ve provided you with some estimates, we want to remind you that settlements for a sexual abuse lawsuit are specific to each and every victim. The amount you can receive from a sexual abuse lawsuit depends on many different factors, including:

  • The specific acts of assault / abuse you were subjected to
  • The number of incidents where you were abused by the defendant
  • If there are special allegations, like abusing one’s position of power
  • The age of the victim at the time of the assault, harassment, etc.
  • The injuries that were caused by these incidents
  • The long-term impact of sexual abuse on the victim’s life
  • If there was a cover up, bribery, blackmail, destruction of evidence or other unlawful acts by the defendant to avoid prosecution or a lawsuit

At the end of the day, determining how much you should ask for in a lawsuit is a complicated issue that you’ll need to discuss with a sexual abuse lawsuit attorney. Contact our law firm and schedule a free case review.

How Long it Takes to Settle a Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

The majority of sexual abuse lawsuits at our law firm are settled within 1 to 2 years, with cases against adults settling faster than claims involving children. But there are cases that defy the odds, like the lawsuit filed by Combs’ former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, which was settled the day after it was filed in New York City. However, these are rare instances, particularly if the victim was underage at the time.

Our goal is to bring a resolution to our clients within the first year, ideally in 6 months or less. At the same time, it’s important that you receive a fair settlement amount for your physical and emotional trauma. That’s why back and forth negotiations are necessary (unless the defendant offers an adequate amount right away), and this process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 years.

As for taking your case to trial, this is very unusual, so we anticipate that a settlement will be reached without intervention from the courts. In the event going to trial is the last remaining option, obtaining compensation from a Sean Combs sexual assault lawsuit will probably take 3 to 5 years.

Statute of Limitations to File Your Lawsuit

The deadline to file a sexual abuse lawsuit is based on whether you were an adult or minor at the time. In California, adults are defined as individuals 18 years or older. So, if you were an adult when you were sexually assaulted, trafficked, or abused by a celebrity, you have 10 years to initiate a lawsuit. The timeline begins on the date of the incident, or if there were multiple incidents of abuse, the date of the most recent event.

It’s perfectly natural if you have questions about the deadline to file a claim for sexual abuse. Just contact our law firm, where a sexual abuse lawyer can help you figure out the statute of limitations to sue for sexual assault by Sean Combs, AKA Diddy.

What if I was Underage when I was Sexually Abused by Sean Combs?

As we previously mentioned, there is one woman so far who has come forward with allegations that Combs and R&B singer Aaron Hall raped her and a friend at a party in Hall’s residence over 30 years ago. To use Combs’s own words, these events are indeed “sickening,” but they are not unusual when it comes to people with money, power, and fame.

If you were sexually abused before the age of 18, you have up until the age of 40 to sue for monetary damages. In other words, the statute of limitations for a child sexual abuse lawsuit is California is 22 years from whenever you reach the age of adulthood. But there is another rule that can take away the age limit for a lawsuit, which is based on discovering an injury or illness that resulted from sex abuse during your childhood.

With the discovery rule, former child victims have 5 years to file a civil complaint, starting from when they find out about mental or physical health issues that were caused by sexual abuse. The rule takes into account how children repress memories of abuse because they are too ashamed or scared to tell someone. Alternatively, they may not understand that what they experienced was wrong, and they have the right to seek help from the police or another adult. Then, there are cases where the victim did ask for help, only to be blamed or not believed, or for the allegations to go nowhere due to police corruption and other abuses of power.

In any of these situations, trying to forget about what happened or keeping the pain and trauma to themselves is the only option for an underage victim. But as an adult, it’s likely that the victim will develop one or more mental health disorders, which they suspect are the resulting impact of sexual abuse as a child. Unfortunately, it can take someone 20 years, 30 years, or even longer to make the connection, and many people require a therapist to help them with the process.

It does not matter if you are over 40 years by the time you realize the harm you suffered from being sexually abused by Sean Combs or anyone else in his circle. California’s discovery rule for sexual abuse of a minor allows you to file a lawsuit within 5 years of finding out about such an injury.
