Segway Scooters Recall Class Action Lawsuit
On March 20, 2025, Segway issued a recall for their Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP KickSchooters. According to the recall, number 25-193, the folding mechanism on the scooters can fail, causing the handlebars or stem to fold while the scooter is in use; this represents a fall hazard to consumers. The recall affects approximately 220,000 units.
The recall specifically includes all models of the Ninebot Max G30P and the Max G30LP KickScooters. The Max G30P is black with yellow accents, and it measures 46 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 47 inches high with a weight of about 42 pounds. The Max G30LP is gray with yellow accents, and it measures 44 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 45 inches high with a weight of 39 pounds.
The recalled scooters were sold for prices ranging from $600 to $1,000. They were sold through different retailers, including Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, Target, and Sam’s Club as well as online via Amazon.com and Segway.com from January 2020 through February 2025.
The company has received 68 reports of the folding mechanism of the scooters failing; these reports included 20 instances of injuries, consisting of bruises, abrasions, lacerations, and broken bones.
The company is urging all affected consumers to stop using the recalled scooters and contact them for free information about whether their folding mechanism needs adjustment and to receive a free maintenance kit (which includes tools and instructions). However, if you or a member of your family suffered injuries due to either models of the defective scooters, it is important that you do not agree to a free maintenance kit or any other remedy offered. Instead, you should seek legal help from a recall lawyer to explore your right to file a product liability claim.
