Brompton Foldable Bicycle Recall Class Action Lawsuit
There is a recall issued by Brompton Bicyle for over 1,000 T-Line foldable bikes, which went into effect as of August 1, 2024. The bikes have a design flaw that can cause loss of alignment between the handlebars and the front wheel. This can cause steering problems that result in the rider losing control of the bike and injuring themselves from a fall or a crash. To prevent yourself from being in an accident, make sure to stop using the bike immediately.
Recalled bicycles have the following measurements when folded: 25.4 inches tall, 23.6 inches wide and 12.5 inches deep. The name “Brompton” should be on the center tube and the back of the vertical seat tube will have a label with the frame and serial number. The bikes were at Brompton Junction Stores and various bike retailers in the U.S.
There have been at least 13 incidents of steering problems that were reported by owners of these bikes. As a remedy, the manufacturer is offering to repair the bike for free, which involves tightening the steerer clamp bolts and/or handlebar stem. You can make arrangements for the repair by contacting an authorized dealer of Brompton bicycles.
