50-Year-Old Man Dies After Running Red Light in Porter Ranch | 03/09/2021

Two-vehicle collision results in the death of a driver who ran a red light in Porter Ranch last Saturday afternoon.
According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey, the crash was reported just before 2:40 p.m. in the 10800 block of North Tampa Avenue.
The deceased driver, later identified as Palmdale resident Carlos Govea, was struck by another driver eastbound on Chatsworth Street after running a red light, said Sgt. J. McGee of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau.
The dead driver’s vehicle struck a pole and he was trapped in it, taking his life. The deceased 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fortunately, the 21-year-old driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured. He was in pain but did not need to be transported to the hospital, according to the sergeant.
Some lanes of Tampa and Chatsworth Street were closed due to Valley Traffic Bureau investigation.
