Ron Gad Sexual Abuse Attorneys
According to the Justice Department, a former marriage and family therapist has been indicted by a federal grand jury for the distribution of child sexual abuse material; before the expiration of his license in November of 2023, he was based in the Beverly Hills area. Ron Gad, 49, of the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles, has been charged with one count of distribution of child pornography.
Gad is free on a $250,000 bond. Arraignment is expected on May 3 at the United States District Court in Downtown L.A. Reportedly, on December 2021, Gad knowingly distributed child sex abuse material (CSAM) online; the CSAM had been shipped in interstate commerce.
According to court records, in the fall of 2022, law enforcement became aware that Gad had engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with someone who he believed was a teenager, although this was actually an undercover law enforcement officer. Reportedly, in October of the same year, Gad drove to San Luis Obispo to a public park to meet this “teenage girl.” He was arrested after a traffic stop in which the authorities seized multiple digital devices. These digital devices contained evidence of the distribution of CSAM, communication with suspected minors, and internet searches related to sex with minors.
If convicted, Gad would face a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison.

Child sexual abuse material – CSAM – refers to images/videos that depict the sexual exploitation and/abuse of minors that is specifically shared online. CSAM documents the trauma suffered by child victims; every time the content is distributed or shared, child victims are re-victimized. Unfortunately, victims can continue to be harmed as a result of this digital content. They can suffer mental and emotional distress for the rest of their lives; this distress could present itself as depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, and more.
Of course, CSAM goes hand in hand with child sexual abuse, which can include rape, attempted rape, fondling, groping, kissing, sodomy, penetration with objects, forcing the victim to perform any sexual acts, etc.
CSAM on Social MediaAs social media becomes more and more popular, it has become clear that these social media platforms have facilitated the distribution of CSAM. Unfortunately, these social media platforms have changed their platforms with the goal of evading any responsibility for content posted on their sites and effectively reducing their liability for the distribution of CSAM.
Can I File a Lawsuit?Yes, you could be eligible to file a lawsuit. Although the distributors of CSAM can face criminal charges, victims can also pursue civil claims. Whether you were abused by Ron Gad or any other therapist, you could sue. You could also sue if Ron Gad distributed CSAM that victimized you. If you were sexually abused by Ron Gad and suffered any physical, mental, or emotional injuries, you could pursue a lawsuit. For more information about the legal options available to you as a victim of child sex abuse and a victim of CSAM, contact us today.
Child Sex Abuse and CSAM – Victims Suffer Lasting HarmWithout a doubt, victims of child sex abuse and CSAM suffer significant harm.
Physical injuries associated with child sex abuse can include the following:
- Sexually transmitted infections
- Unwanted pregnancy
- Injuries to genitals
- Injuries to reproductive organs
- Fractures, lacerations, scrapes, and bruises
Mental/emotional harm associated with child sex abuse can include the following:
- Post-traumatic stress
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic
- Fear
- Increased risk of self-harm
- Increased risk of substance abuse
With CSAM, specifically, the trauma can reappear every time that the material is shared. Even if the victim has been able to overcome the harm resulting from the actual abuse, CSAM results in revictimization and, even though no physical harm can come from it, can result in significant mental and emotional distress and can even affect other aspects of the victim’s lives (relationships, work, etc.).
Understanding the Evidence that You will Need to Prove Your CasePursuing cases for child sexual abuse and CSAM can be very difficult for victims, as they have to essentially relive their traumatic experience. It may also be traumatic for victims to even think about gathering evidence to support their claims, considering how sensitive this evidence can be. Examples of the necessary evidence include the following:
- Personal testimonies (in depth testimonies of the abuse that occurred)
- Witness testimonies
- Medical records (including psychological records and any other mental health records)
- Proof of the distribution of the CSAM
Yes, you could be eligible to recover compensation. Although every claim is different, you could be entitled to receive compensation for some of the following:
- All past and future medical costs (including physical care, mental health care, therapy, etc.)
- Pain and suffering for all mental and emotional distress
- Punitive damages
- Legal fees
- And more
How much can I recover? Every claim is different. However, victims could be eligible to recover anywhere from $500,000 to $5 million – or sometimes even more. The value of your claim will be specifically based on the details surrounding your claim.
