Former Inglewood Teacher Convicted of Sexual Assault and Murder – Sexual Abuse Lawyers

Former Inglewood Middle School Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault Murder lawyer attorney sue

A Los Angeles County jury has convicted a man for murder and sexual assault incidents that took place almost twenty years ago. The man is 59-year-old Inglewood resident Charles Wright, a former middle school teacher. According to the office of L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon, Wright was convicted on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

According to the DA’s office, Wright murdered 21-year-old Pertina Epps by strangulation on April 26, 2005; sixteen years later, in 2022, he was linked to the case via DNA evidence. He was arrested in January 2022 but released on $1 million bail before being formally charged for the murder. However, while out on bail, he was linked to another crime, which reportedly occurred in September 2006; this includes the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.

Wright will be sentenced in September. He is expected to receive 50 years to life in prison.

The conviction is even more shocking because Wright was a middle school teacher, which is considered a position of trust and authority, according to Gascon.

Unfortunately, there are many people in these positions that have committed crimes. Since they have not been charged with crimes, however, they continue to work with the most vulnerable – children – until they switch careers or retire. If you were abused by Charles Wright, it is important that you seek legal assistance as soon as possible. You might have the right to file a lawsuit.
