Early last Saturday morning, a 38-year-old man was run over by what appeared to be a dark-colored vehicle, an incident that unfortunately took his life.
The event, which occurred around 4:20 a.m., involves a man on Sepulveda Boulevard, riding his bicycle, at the crosswalk that intersects the street with Rouse Boulevard.
He was inside of the crosswalk when a Toyota Camry, year 2007 to 2011, hit and killed him.
After the hit, the driver quickly fled, without stopping, calling for help, lending help or identifying himself, as is required in California state.
The victim was later identified as Israel Orlando Vera.
Authorities exhort that bikers should ride along with the traffic, not facing it.
There is a $50,000 reward for the person who provides information that helps to identify the perpetrator.
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) or call the investigators at 818-644-8022.
