According to news reports from local media including the Los Angeles Times a 92 year old women was struck by a truck as she was attempting to cross the street in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The accident took place a few minutes before 4:00 p.m. on Friday June 7th 2013 at the busy intersection of 3rd Street and La Brea Avenue. According to authorities at the site, the accident resulted in the death of the female. The pedestrian victim was within the designated crosswalk some 10 from the curb when she was struck by the incoming truck. She was struck by a 1983 Peterbilt truck. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident; however the driver of the truck was not arrested as there were no signs of criminal activity including drinking on use of illegal substances while operating a motor vehicle.
