President Barack Obama Nominates Los Angeles Judge Beverly Reid O’Connell for United States District Court Judge
President Barack Obama nominated seven new members for the position of United States District Court Judge on Wednesday, including Los Angeles’ very own Beverly Reid O’Connell. There are over 100 current vacancies on federal benches throughout the country, most likely the result of the just passed presidential election. O’Connell was nominated for a seat on the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
O’Connell received her law degree from the Pepperdine School of Law in 1990, and immediately began working at a private law firm handling various forms of civil litigation. She quickly moved into the public sector as she worked as assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles, specifically in the organized crime and terrorism unit before becoming a judge.
She currently serves as a Superior Court Judge for Los Angeles County. Downtown L.A. Law Group salutes Mrs. O’Connell on her accomplishment.
