Seven people were involved in a violent rollover crash in the Downtown Los Angeles area; the crash left a teenager dead.

According to preliminary information released by the fire department, at least two cars were involved in the crash. The crash occurred at the intersection of Broadway and Cesar Chavez Avenue, near the entrance to the Chinatown neighborhood at approximately 12:40am on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Reportedly, three people were transported in critical condition – two of which were trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle. The condition of the other individuals involved in the crash were not released.

According to a spokesperson with the LAPD, one of the vehicles involved was traveling westbound on Cesar Chavez Avenue when it crashed with the second vehicle involved, which was traveling northbound on Broadway.

It was a male occupant in the second vehicle who was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead; he was 18 years old.

The driver of the vehicle traveling west fled the scene, making the incident a felony hit-and-run. There is currently no description of the suspect.
