A 7-Eleven employee has died after she was allegedly attacked by her store manager during a shift at a Hollywood 7-Eleven location. On June 24, 2025, at around 2:15pm, officers with the Wilshire Division responded to a call about a felony battery at the 7-Eleven located on the 5700 block of Melrose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, there was an altercation between a female victim and a female suspect; the altercation began as a verbal argument that turned physical. When officers arrived, they found a woman in her 20s unconscious on the floor, suffering critical injuries. She was rushed to a hospital. According to police, the suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived. As of June 30, no arrests had been made yet.<\/p>\n

The victim has been identified as Jessica McLaughlin. Her brother, Sean McLaughlin, stated that Jessica was nearing the end of her work shift when the assistant manager started antagonizing her and threw a bottle at her, resulting in an escalation. Other employees told the victim\u2019s family that the manager pinned Jessica to the ground and straddled her, which caused her to lose oxygen and lose consciousness. According to Sean McLaughlin, the suspect attempted to delete surveillance footage before fleeing on a bicycle.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, coworkers attempted to perform CPR, but the damage was too severe.<\/p>\n

According to doctors, the lack of oxygen caused irreversible brain damage which resulted in Jessica being declared \u201cclinically dead.\u201d Her family planned to take her off life support either on Tuesday or Wednesday (July 1 or July 2) pending funeral arrangements. According to her loved ones, she had been experiencing bullying in the workplace.<\/p>\n

A 7-Eleven spokesperson confirmed that the company is cooperating with law enforcement and that the suspect has been terminated. The investigation is ongoing and the search for the suspect continues.<\/p>\n
