County District Attorney George Gascon, Wright was convicted on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>According to the DA\u2019s office, Wright murdered 21-year-old Pertina Epps by strangulation on April 26, 2005; sixteen years later, in 2022, he was linked to the case via DNA evidence. He was arrested in January 2022 but released on $1 million bail before being formally charged for the murder. However, while out on bail, he was linked to another crime, which reportedly occurred in September 2006; this includes the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.<\/p>\n<p>Wright will be sentenced in September.
