According to the Justice Department, a former marriage and family therapist has been indicted by a federal grand jury for the distribution of child sexual abuse material; before the expiration of his license in November of 2023, he was based in the Beverly Hills area. Ron Gad, 49, of the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles, has been charged with one count of distribution of child pornography.<\/p>\n

Gad is free on a $250,000 bond. Arraignment is expected on May 3 at the United States District Court in Downtown L.A. Reportedly, on December 2021, Gad knowingly distributed child sex abuse material (CSAM) online; the CSAM had been shipped in interstate commerce.<\/p>\n

According to court records, in the fall of 2022, law enforcement became aware that Gad had engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with someone who he believed was a teenager, although this was actually an undercover law enforcement officer. Reportedly, in October of the same year, Gad drove to San Luis Obispo to a public park to meet this \u201cteenage girl.\u201d He was arrested after a traffic stop in which the authorities seized multiple digital devices. These digital devices contained evidence of the distribution of CSAM, communication with suspected minors, and internet searches related to sex with minors.<\/p>\n

If convicted, Gad would face a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison.<\/p>\n
