\nWhat Is Sexual Harassment from an LSAT Instructor?<\/span>\n

The LSAT is the Law School Admission Test, which is a standardized test given by the Law School Admission Council to students who want to attend law school. A person who wants to be an attorney will take the LSAT as a first step, then use the scores to get into a law school. Once the person graduates from law school, with a Juris Doctorate or Doctor of Law. Next, it would be time to take the state legal bar examination. If the state bar exam is passed with flying colors, then the student is able to then practice law with a law license, and is then designated as a lawyer or attorney at law. <\/p>\n

The purpose of the LSAT examination is to measure the reading comprehension and deductive reasoning skills of the law school candidate. In that case, the student attempting to get into a law school will take a preparation course or \u201cprep course\u201d to get a good score on the LSAT. Some people look for personal tutors for studying for the LSATs too. The LSAT prep courses can be in person, one-on-one, as tutoring or as other prep classes, to get students ready to take the LSAT.<\/p>\n

Students studying for LSATs are in a highly vulnerable state. They want to pass the test with a high score, to get into the law school of their choice. If the instructor to an LSAT student sexually harasses the student, that student can easily be traumatized from the experience. <\/p>\nWhat Is Sexual Assault?<\/span>\n

<\/a> Sexual assault is a form of sexual misconduct that is perpetrated on students by a teacher. Students are in a trusted relationship with a teacher or instructor. The student is in a vulnerable position when the instructor sexually assaults the student. Students are usually younger than the teacher or instructor, and that can allow the student to be taken advantage of by an older and more threatening instructor to a young and unsuspecting student. <\/p><\/div>\n

\nSexual Assault Survivor Rights<\/span>\n

A student who has been sexaully assaulted by a teacher<\/a> or instructor has rights. The sexual assault survivor student has rights to not be sexually assaulted by the instructor. If the student is sexually assaulted, the student can report the incident to the police, and talk to the law enforcement officer about the details of the sexually<\/a> assaulted. When the instructor acts outside the boundary of professional behavior, the instructor may be then prosecuted for sexually assaulting a student during instruction of the student<\/a> by the instructor. The survivor of a sexual assault has the right to consult with an attorney, to bring a legal action against the instructor who sexually assaulted the student. <\/p>\nSexual Assault by an Instructor Is Traumatic for the Student Victims<\/span>\n

If a student is sexually assaulted the student will have long-lasting memories of the traumatic event. Many victims continue to relive the trauma in their heads, and it can affect their emotioanl, social, physical and even economic status for many years or decades to come. Some victims find it hard to remember all of the details of the sexually assault, or even blank it out of their heads completely. Vicitms of sexually assaulted will need to have a forensic examination of their body, which can include testing for sexaully transmitted diseases, HIV and other sexually-based infections. An investigation into the event related to the sexually assaulted will take place, to understand what happened to all parties. The instructor perpetrator of the sexually assault can have criminal charges brought against the person, if a sexually assault is proven in a court of law. <\/p>\nSchools Need to Put Protocols and Practices in Place to Prevent Sexual Assault of the Students<\/span>\n

Schools that have instructors providing close, one-on-one and personal instruction to the students need to have protocols and practices in place that the instructors will not sexually assault the students. Students do not sign up for classes with an instructor expecting to be sexually assaulted<\/a> by the instructor during the course of the lesson or class. <\/p>\nSexual Assault Victims Who Report Assaults May Be Treated Differently By Peers<\/span>\n
