More recently, however, studies have poured in suggesting a connection to a more harmful side effect, pancreatic cancer. Among these studies include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a study=\"\" by=\"\" the=\"\" a=\"\" title=\"ADA Pancreatic Cancer\" href=\"http:\/\/diabetes.diabetesjournals.org\/content\/early\/2013\/03\/17\/db12-1686.abstract\">American Diabetes Association<\/a>&lt; that individuals on Byetta, Januvia or Victoza have an elevated risk of developing precancerous cells which transform into pancreatic cancer.<\/li>\n<li><a safety=\"\" a=\"\" title=\"FDA Byetta, Januvia and Victoza Warning\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/Drugs\/DrugSafety\/ucm343187.htm\">warning by the Food and Drug Administration<\/a>&lt; which reports of the possible risk of pre-cancerous cells of the pancreas from incretin mimetic drugs such as Byetta, Januvia and Victoza.<\/li>\n<li><a study=\"\" by=\"\" the=\"\" a=\"\" title=\"JAMA Pancreatic Cancer Study\" href=\"http:\/\/archinte.jamanetwork.com\/article.aspx?articleid=1656537\">JAMA Internal Medicine<\/a>&lt; indicating an heightened odds of pancreatitis and hospitalization.<\/li>\n<li><a style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\" title=\"Public Citizen Pancreatic Cancer Warning\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citizen.org\/pressroom\/pressroomredirect.cfm?ID=3850\">Public Citizen<\/a><a recommendation=\"\" by=\"\" the=\"\" health=\"\" watchdog=\"\" group=\"\" span=\"\">&lt;, that the FDA ban the use of all GLP-1 mimicking type 2 diabetes drugs, such as Byetta, Januvia and Victoza due to the risk of pancreatic cancer.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><research done=\"\" at=\"\" the=\"\"><a title=\"Pancreatitis from Januvia, Byetta and Victoza Study UCLA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/body.cfm?id=403&amp;action=detail&amp;ref=2133\">Universtiy of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)<\/a>&lt; found a forty percent increase for acute pancreatitis, which is commonly linked to an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.<\/research><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Downtown L.A. The pancreas is an organ located deep in the body behind the abdomen. Pancreatic cancer cells form when there is an uncontrolled cell growth on the pancreas, forming into an abnormal type of tissue known as tumors. Left untreated, the tumor forms in other parts of the body, obliterating healthy organs. This is called metastasis, and once this occurs, there is an incredibly low rate of survival, as little as ninety-five percent. These companies knowingly chose to put profits ahead of consumer safety for years, as profits from these drug soared. It has been reported that Merck, the manufacturer of Victoza has garnered sales in excess of $4.1 billion dollars for Victoza in 2012 alone. Januvia, also by Merck, has proven to be another boon to the company, generating a net profit for the company of over $1 billion in 2011 alone. Byetta, distributed jointly by Amylin and Eli Lilly Co., generates roughly $1.2 billion of sales per year. These companies failed to adequately warn consumers of the inherent risk of pancreatic cancer associated with Januvia, Byetta and Victoza despite the availability of reports and studies showing it&#8217;s prevalence. Currently, there are no Januvia, Byetta or Victoza <a href=\"https:\/\/dtla.syfygo.com\/practice-areas\/defective-product\/jack3d-dmaa-attorney-lawsuit-injuries\/\">class action lawsuits,<\/a> but cases are coming forward on an individual case basis.
