On Highway 101, a possible vehicle shooting was reported Saturday morning in Agoura Hills, the California Highway Patrol was investigating.

Officers were seen inspecting the car that was riddled with bullet holes at a gas station.

Investigations to determine what caused the shooting are being made by authorities.

The shooting was fatal, a 27-year-old mother, Sia Marie Xiong, was shot dead. Her family is looking for answers.

According to the authorities, Sia Marie Xiong was taken by paramedics to the emergency area at the hospital with a single gunshot wound; she was shot around 6 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East Kay Street. At the area hospital, she was pronounced dead with a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

The victim’s family said they do not know what the reasons for the murder were. Her aunt, Akeisa said:

“She was a free-spirited person, full of a lot of love and compassion. So it’s really hard for me to understand that someone hates her so much that they want to kill her.”

Xiong’s father is Cambodian and her mother is Black. Akeisa described her niece as a loving person.

Sia Marie Xiong’s home was not in Compton and her family members do not know why she was there, they said. Her family also said Xiong was from San Diego but recently lived in Fontana. She was studying to become a beautician, according to her family.

Some people suspect that the murder was a hate crime because Sia was of Asian descent. Community activists and family members call on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to investigate whether the shooting was related to her race; hate crimes against Americans of Asian origin have seen a significant increase.

Toni Jaramilla, a civil rights activist told ABC7:

“Given the increase in the number of Asian Americans being killed and hate crimes against Asian Americans, we are asking the sheriff’s department to look at it through that lens to see if the motivation was hatred against Asians. Because she was of Asian descent. “

Sia Marie Xiong had a 3-year-old son, who is now an orphan because of the shooting. Her son name is Shakur.

“Sia was so smart, funny, and loving!” says the page. “He had so much life to live and so much love to give. The fact that his life was cut short, in such a violent way, hurts the family to the core.”

So far the investigation continues.
