Common Causes of Car Accidents

There are many possible causes of car accidents, which can include the following:

  • Unsafe road conditions (including defective traffic signals, poorly lit roads, blind intersections, and more)
  • Poor weather conditions (rain, sleet, fog, etc.)
  • Reckless driving, including speeding, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, tailgating, overtaking, and more
  • Defective vehicles (which may include vehicles with electrical issues, brake issues, etc.)
The Injuries that Could Occur

Car accidents can lead to extensive injuries. Common injuries can include the following:

  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Concussions and other head injuries
  • Neck injuries
  • Back injuries
  • Herniated discs
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Burns
  • Lacerations
  • Scrapes and bruises
  • Crushing injuries
  • Entrapment injuries
  • And more

In incidents like the one previously described in which the vehicles catch fire, victims can potentially sustain extensive burn injuries ranging in degree as well as smoke inhalation injuries. In addition, it is important to note that fires can make it significantly more difficult for witnesses, bystanders, or even first responders to help. Without a doubt, car crash fires increase the risk that victims sustain severe and even fatal injuries.

No matter the specific injuries that you or a member of your family suffered due to a car crash on the road to a national park, it is important that you seek legal help as soon as possible.

Understanding Your Right to Sue

When it comes to incidents that occur outside of a national park, multiple parties/entities may be involved. Who can be liable for these accidents? Who can be sued? In most of these cases, liability is based on driver negligence (a driver acting recklessly while behind the wheel); it is important to note that comparative fault negligence may apply, meaning that responsibility of the crash can be shared. If the incident was caused by poorly maintained roads, unsafe construction zones, improper road signage, etc., then government entities could be liable. In the incident involves a commercial vehicle (like a tour bus or tour van), then the company that owns the vehicle or that employs the tour van driver could be liable. In cases in which the incident was caused by a faulty vehicle, then the auto manufacturer may be liable.

Because liability for these incidents can vary significantly, it is important that you reach out to an experienced car accident lawyer as soon as possible. Our legal team is ready to guide you every step of the way.
