Driver Dies After Running Red Light in Riverside | 03/19/2021
Last Wednesday night, a two-car accident left one dead and two injured after a driver ran a red light.
The Riverside County sheriff’s department reports that the event occurred at the intersection of Alessandro and Perris boulevards last Friday night, around 11:15 p.m.
According to Sergeant Robert Grmusha, a high-speed Nissan Altima was going eastbound on Alessandro Boulevard. He ran a red light and collided with a Toyota Corolla at the intersection with Perris Boulevard. The sergeant reports that the impact caused the Toyota to spin. The Nissan flipped over from the impact, killing the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released. Neither has an autopsy been done to determine whether there was an abuse of psychotropic substances that led to the accident.
Both the passenger of the Nissan and the driver of the Toyota were seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital where they receive medical attention. Fortunately, they are expected to recover.
The intersection of the boulevards was closed for the rest of the night to continue the investigation, as well as to remove the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
