Tennessee School Bus Accident injures 30 students
At least 30 students and the school bus driver sustained injuries resulting from a school bus accident in Tennessee Thursday afternoon. The majority of the bus accident victims were taken and treated at the Johnson City Medical Center; while up to 10 of the injured were taken either to the Franklin Woods Community Hospital or Holston Valley medical center.
In total there were more than 67 passengers on board the school bus. According to hospital doctors two of the victims will require further surgeries resulting from injuries sustained in the bus crash. The other patients will be able to go home in a relatively short amount of time.
School buses are regarded as some of the safest modes of public transportation. However they are still susceptible to accidents caused by bus driver error, distracted driving, defective roadway conditions and drunk driving.
