Sex Crimes-Why Suffer For Something You Didn’t Do
A sex crime is any offense that is sexual in nature. Such crimes may either or not involve physical contact. They may either be felonies or misdemeanors. Sex crimes make up for the most serious offenses that a defendant can be charged with.
Sex crime penalties in California are very harsh and mostly have to do with sex offender registration. In addition to the penalties that might be invoked by the court, a sex crime offender is also ostracized by the rest of society due to the nature of their offense. In addition to this, their contact information and nature of the crime they committed will be made public – this will most definitely ruin their lives.

Sex Offender Registration
It is mandatory for sex offenders to register after conviction. Under the sex offender registration act, persons who are found guilty of having committed a sex crime are required to register with the local law enforcement. This registration should be done within the first five business days of moving into a new residence. According to the Penal Code:- a sex offender has to be re-registered every year within five business days of their birthday
- within five days of changing their name or residence, a sex offender must re-register
- and lastly, a sex offender must re-register with their local law enforcement agency within five days of having been released from a correctional facility
