Bike USA Punisher Adult Cycling Helmets Recall Class Action Lawsuit
On October 27, 2022, Bike USA issued a recall for approximately 3,400 units of their Punisher Adult Cycling Helmets. According to the recall, number 23-706, the recalled helmets do not comply with federal requirement for bicycle helmets (specifically the positional stability and impact attenuation requirements). This means that the helmets can fail to protect as they should in case of a crash, resulting in a risk of head injury.
The recall specifically includes the Punisher Adult Cycling Helmets which were available in a number of colors, including white, black, red, blue, green, orange, and pink/black. The helmets have black straps and a black buckle. “Punisher” is printed on the sides of the helmet, and a while label inside the helmet can be found with either Ref/Lot# 2020TC015 or 2020TC025.
The recalled helmets were sold from July 2020 through December 2021 for prices ranging between $26 and $30. They were available online via www.amazon.com, www.Fingerhut.com, www.Kmart.com, www.Sears.com, www.Overstock.com, www.Kohls.com, and www.Walmart.com.
So far, no incidents have been reported. Although it is possible that there have been unreported incidents.
The company is urging all consumers affected by the recall to stop using the helmets and contact them for instructions on receiving a full refund. According to the company, consumers should not return the helmets to the online retailers where they purchased them from.
