L.A. County Deputy Arrested After Alleged Sex Assaults Involving 2 Female Inmates At Lynwood Jail | 9-13-2017

31-year-old Los Angeles County Deputy Giancarlo Scotti has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting two female inmates at a Lynwood jail facility. Scotti is a 10-year-veteran and faces charges of rape under color of authority and oral copulation under color of authority. According to reports, Scotti was arrested at around 6 p.m on Wednesday, the same day the alleged incident occurred and just hours after the incident was reported by one of the inmates. According to Sheriff Jim McDonnell, the alleged, assaults took place over the course of an hour early that morning, while Scotti was on duty. The incident was later reported at around 9 a.m. to a teaching instructor at the Century Regional Detention Facility. Scotti was made aware of the allegations and put into the watch commander’s office, where he remained until shortly before 2 p.m. Scotti was then taken into custody after investigators gathered significant evidence compelling enough to make an arrest. Scotti was sent to the Norwalk jail and was later released after posting the $100,000 bail. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Criminal charges have yet to be filed in the case, but Scotti is scheduled to make his first court appearance on October 5th.
