According to news reports more than 50 individuals suffered from severe symptoms associated with food poisoning following an NAACP reception in Redwood City, California this past week. More than a dozen people were taken by emergency transportation to hospitals across the city. Many other were able to drive themselves to nearby hospital emergency rooms and urgent care centers. Amongst the notables at the dinner who suffered food poisoning symptoms include former Oakland Mayor and assemblyman Elihu Harris. The dinner took place at the Sofitel Hotel.
